In this second volume of Crossed Civilisations, ancient Greece meets Gaudi's Parc Güell (Barcelona). The images were created with the help of artificial intelligence on Canva. I then modified and composed them on Photoshop. The resulting image was printed on fabric.
I decided to present it like an archaeological dig. I painted a background fabric with ochre and brown colors, using Liquitex mediums to create a kind of sandy earth. Bits of baking paper were painted too. The image was completely cut into small pieces, recomposed and fused with Vliesofix, adding the paper and mosaics from leftovers. Other pieces were superimposed, so there are 4-5 layers on the finished quilt. And of course, sometimes you find amazing objects in excavations !
The whole process was a lot of fun. I could have called it Recycling Olympus, as I was able to save hundreds of little pieces of different earlier works, including remnants of my previous Ancient Egypt panel. This also creates continuity for me.
Finally, this creation was a therapeutic time during my partner's heart attack. By helping him at his stay in intensive care to “pick up the pieces”, I was able to calm my anxiety.
