2021 was a sea change for me. I love that word. Sea Change, defined as a major transformation or alteration or a transformation brought about by the sea. I like both definitions. First because I moved from Maryland to Delaware after 40 years living on the same street. The second reason, is I now live very close to the sea- the Atlantic Ocean!
After 40 years of suburban living in a small, old, house, with (lovely) neighbors on either side, I know own a larger contemporary house with acreage- 5 miles from the Ocean. And I am also now semi retired! Decades of working as a chef and instructor in culinary programs, my life has taken on a new perspective.
I am Susan Callahan,
I am Susan Callahan, the original foodie, a chef for over 30 years. As a women in a professional kitchen I worked hard to earn the title of Chef. For the past 25 year years my work has reflected my career. My art honors the women and men who work in commercial kitchens. Now that I am not as active as a professional foodie- my work still revolves around food because it is a universal cultural symbol.
To quote Brillat-Savarin-" Tell me what you eat and I will tell you who you are."
