When I decided to design a door, the first thing that came to mind was the one in my grandmother's house. It was a solid, dark wooden door with iron fittings. And yet it was always open! Still, it was the guardian of our family life.
My door took its identity as I worked on it, and it emerged old, solid, and reliable. I decided to call it The Guardian.
The process began with fabric dyeing, then piecing (something I have not done in a while), and finally some of my current technique, raw edge collage.
